MLP: Elements of Harmony Book by 16Shokushu MLP: Elements of Harmony Book by 16Shokushu
:bulletblue: I'm doing a Twilight Sparkle cosplay for a small local con in a couple of weeks and I needed a prop!

The book isn't completely finished but ehh I wanted to post pictures anyways haha. All I have left to do is paint the two clasp thingies on the back corners and it's done!

This was actually suuuuper easy to make, and took only a few hours.
I thrifted a book that was the thickness and size that I wanted (I couldn't bring myself to destroy one of my own books D': ) and covered it with imitation suede that I bought from Hobby Lobby. I used hot glue to attach the suede to the book and stretched it as I went, so it was taught and there were no wrinkles.
I used a vector reference of the book for the detailing but I added my own flair to it to make it a bit more ornate and purdy.
All of the gold detailing was painted on with acrylic craft paint and then I went through with Copic markers to add the shading and detailing on top of that. I also used the Copics to add false shadows, so the book didn't appear so flat.
Overall, it took about 6 hours from start to finish and I'm suuuuuuper happy with how it turned out. I'll probably hollow it out and turn it into a stash book at some point. xD

I tried making a book like this, only that I wanted to hollow it out. But, when I was glueing the pages together, it was a fail.

Lol!! I've been wanting to make a hollow book as well, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I'm sure there's a bunch of tutorials out there tho~

There might be, but I checked on Google and all I got are reviews. Maybe, I could post how I make my book box on YouTube and link it to you later.

Do you take commissions for these? If you do what is the price for one as well as if I could send you a book to re-cover?

Yep I do! If you have a book you'd like to mail me, then I will do it up like the Elements of Harmony Book for 40$. Since you will have already paid to mail the book to me in the first place, then I will comp the shipping.
If I have to thrift the book, then it will be a random one of my choice (I'll make sure it's not weird or vulgar or anything lol) and the price is 60$ all together, shipping included.
If you're still interested, you should email me (it's just a bit easier to communicate with loll *16shokushu@gmail.com) and we can figure out any other details~ ^u^

I sent you an email so check your spam folder sometime today if possible.    I ordered a hardback copy of
The Elements of Harmony: Friendship is Magic and should be arriving any day now.  Was hoping you could rebind it to look better.
